Santolina 'Green', also known as Green Santolina or Green Lavender Cotton (Santolina rosmarinifolia or virens), is a compact, evergreen sub-shrub native to the Mediterranean. It forms dense, mounding clumps about 1–2 feet tall and wide, featuring bright green, needle-like, finely divided foliage that is highly aromatic when crushed. In late spring to summer, it produces cheerful, button-shaped yellow flowers on slender stems above the leaves, adding vibrant contrast and attracting pollinators.
This drought-tolerant plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it ideal for xeriscaping, rock gardens, borders, or low hedges in dry climates like southern California.
